Derrys surprised for their 60th wedding anniversary
LaVere and Beverly Derry were pleasantly surprised on Friday evening when, after arriving home from Ames, they found their daughter Terri (who lives in Ames) making sandwiches. She told them that Bev’s sister Marilyn and George Millard were coming for supper. She neglected to say that their son Mike and grandsons John and Luke of Chicago were there also. It wasn’t long before LaVere’s brother Chuck Derry, their niece Deb and Randy Vodenik, and good friends Dennis and Sharon Ulrich, all of Rippey, as well as Janet Fessler and Earl and Doris Benjamin of Perry, joined the group. Lots of good memories were shared and entertaining stories were told by the Derry brothers for the benefit of the younger crowd!
Beverly Todd and LaVere Derry were married Nov. 28, 1954, at the Rippey Methodist Church. They both were graduates of the Rippey Consolidated School and have spent their married life farming in the Rippey area.
